The Lake Wales Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, features charming specialty shops, antique stores and restaurants. At nearby Westgate River Ranch, an authentic Florida dude ranch nestled on 1,700 beautiful acres, you and your family can return to the days of “Old Florida” when the state was home to cowboys and cattle ranchers. Lake Wales Attractions

Westgate River Ranch hosts the Americom Championship Rodeo every Saturday night at 7:30 PM. Cowpokes and bronco busters descend upon Westgate River Ranch for an evening of fun for the whole family that includes trick riding, bull riding and barrel racing. A National Historic Landmark, the serene Historic Bok Sanctuary features a 205-foot, Gothic-style carillon tower, as well as a museum, beautiful landscape garden, picnic areas, a café and gift shop. Built as a train station in 1928, the historic Depot now houses the Lake Wales Museum & Cultural Center (also known simply as The Depot Museum), which preserves the rich history of Lake Wales through artifacts and exhibits. Last but not least, don’t miss a chance to experience the legendary Spook Hill. Park your car at the bottom of this “gravity-defying hill” on North Wales Drive in Lake Wales and it will appear to roll up the hill. Is it an optical illusion or some kind of mystical occurrence?
